One of my pet hates with social media, especially Facebook, is when people ask for a friend request and immediately try pitching to you. It is like waving a red flag to a bull and It makes me mad.
What happened to getting to know the person first, and building that know, like, and trust factor . It actually takes longer to build trust online, due to the number of scams out there.
However using social media the smart way will make a difference, and I am sure you are the same as me, where we actually want to stand out from the crowd
This is a Turn Off!
Don't have this type of conversation. It doesn't work and certainly destroys trust online!

Me: Really you never checked out my profile before you wanted to connect with me?

It can be intimidating if you are an introvert
It can be a bit imitating to get any conversation started especially if you are shy or an introvert. And you may even feel that you don’t want to annoy others, so you hold back from starting up a conversation. However, using social media the smart way can and will build trusted relationships. Noticed that I said using social media is the SMART WAY.

There is nothing worse than having someone send you a connection request, and immediately they start to promote their services or try to sell to you. That approach certainly is not aligned with my values and it is a turn-off. I immediately block any requests that go in for the kill.
