“Women in Leadership - How to speak and be heard”
Imagine being able to walk confidently into the next meeting, iPad under your arm, and feeling like you are being heard. Having the ability to voice your ideas and opinions openly with pose, grace, confidence and having a quiet presence that commands immediate respect. To speak with conviction, purpose and calmness that immediately grabs the attention of others within the room.
It can be challenging when we are in a male dominate environment as women within leadership. At times you may find that you are talked over, or even dismissed as you try to point across your point of view. Leaving you feeling excluded from the conversation and self-doubting your ability as an effective leader.
Reflect on How you are Currently Communicating
Take a moment and reflect on how you are communicating. Often it is not what we say it is how we say it.
Having value-based conversations that are spoken with authenticity and calmness will stop others within their tracks. Mix in your own inner strength and vulnerability as you speak from your heart certainly can not go un-noticed.
Movies deliver Powerful Messages
I like to watch movies that have a strong powerful message. One of these was Patch Adams. It is located on YouTube and I will put the link in the comments below this post, so you can view it. In this movie when he confronts the board, he speaks with inner strength, purpose, and vulnerability. The conversation was value based.
Take away from learning from this video. How can you communicate differently to grab attention instantly? Are you communicating with inner strength, vulnerability, purpose and from the heart?
